Today, we are going to write letters to ensure that a Solider, Sailor, Airman, or Marine knows that his or her sacrifices are appreciated. 100,000+ care packages are sent to our service men and women around the world. Of all the items included in these packages, the most cherished are the personal letters of appreciation.
Do's and Don't s:
- Start with a Salutation, such as "Dear Service Member" or "Dear Hero"
- Express your thanks for their selfless service
- Avoid politics, guns, killing, and war completely and religion in excess; however, saying you pray for them, is wonderful.
- Share a little about yourself: family, hobbies, work, pets, etc.
- Talk about life back home: Sports, weather, music, movies
- You may include your first names only. NO PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Create a rough draft and check for any misspelling, sentence fractures, etc.
- I will provide you card stock for your final version. Your final version will be given a grade and I will take off 5 points for any errors noted.
- One side of the card stock is for a letter, the other is to be decorative.
- Turn in your final letter to me when finished.
Presentations will start tomorrow. Be sure to look over your grading rubric and to practice your presentation at home tonight! If you feel like you need note cards, definitely use them! Don't read the slide verbatim!
Don't forget to wear your CAMO for Warrior Wednesday tomorrow!! Also, if you are wearing your purple ribbon for Believe in Heroes Tuesday, come up the last 5 minutes of class so that I can put your extra credit in. Don't forget to market our project!!
