Fashion, Merchandising and Retailing Essentials
Course Description: This course will introduce the student to the fashion industry including the fundamentals of fashion marketing, types of businesses involved in the industry, and the array of career opportunities available in fashion marketing. Students will develop skills in such areas as fashion economics, marketing segmentation and target marketing, product selection and buying, and inventory systems.
In order to increase the number of application experiences, students should participate in work-based learning activities and the student organization, DECA, An Association of Marketing Students. It is also highly advantageous for students to participate in a school-based enterprise, P3.
